The citizenM Shoreditch in London is one the citizenM brand of hotels with locations across Europe and in New York. At the Shoreditch hotel, I experienced a unique stay that melded affordability with luxury, art with fun and convenience with hospitality.

The Neighborhood: Shoreditch
Wondering where to stay in London? Consider the East End. I love that the neighborhood has it all: history, gastronomy, culture and yes, hipsters in their natural environment. This citizenM Shoreditch in London takes on that creative hipster edge. With its modern entrance, the strikingly urban architecture bursts with contemporary color and a happy mood. The experience continued inside.
citizenM Check-In and First Impressions
Checking in at the citizenM Shoreditch was unlike any check-in process I have experienced at a boutique hotel. No front desk needed. Think kiosk! We picked which room we wanted from a touchscreen, just like choosing an airline seat. We had a key card processed and we were done in just a few minutes. A friendly associate was there to not only formally welcome us but answer our questions.
The lobby is an open plan space featuring a cafeteria, café and relaxing spaces. It was decked out in vibrant modern furniture and art.
The spaces were a feast for the mind, like a contemporary gallery. Tables and shelves were stocked with objects you want to examine up close. The living room featured a collection of iconic Vitra furniture, and Instagram-worthy art.
I was easing into the creativeness of it all and loving it. Next, the room…
The Room at citizenM Shoreditch
“citizenM says: the perfect amount of space to swing a cat (or one large suitcase) in” -citizenM Shoreditch website
Well, no cat to swing! Just our suitcases.
The smart contemporary charm made up for lack of space, from the pillow cases, soap dispenser to the personalized welcome on the flat screen.
Although on the small side, I found the room to be designed efficiently with storage spaces and cubbies. Forget switches or remotes. Here everything is controlled by an iPad including the lighting, black out blinds, movies (free), TV and music. There was even a choice for mood lighting: business, party and romantic.
The bed was incredibly comfortable, an XL king-sized bed took up the length of the room. Above it a fantastic wall-length window gave us a unique view of East End in all its funky re-gentrified glory.
were international plugs, enough work space for two and excellent Wi-Fi.
The shower cabin in the room had a great rainfall shower, plenty of hot water and shampoo and body wash.
Breakfast at citizenM Shoreditch in London
If you don’t think a breakfast can be served in hip kind of way… think again.
The citizenM Shoreditch in London offers a continental and English breakfast buffet. Select from fresh croissants, yogurt, scrambled eggs, tomatoes, sausage and bacon.

The Conclusion: citizenM Shoreditch in London
I highly recommend booking a room here where you get value for your money. The location is superb, within walking distance to the Shoreditch tube stop and to the incredible urban world that is the East End.
