Sunset at Cape Sounio

Situated along the cosmopolitan coastline of the Athenian Riviera, facing the temple of Poseidon, Cape Sounio is one of the most luxurious hotels in Attica. Nestled on the edge of a nature reserve far from the city, the sunset there is “pure”. The hotel’s restaurants are managed by the most talented chefs who use only the finest and freshest ingredients. Treat your loved one to an unforgettable romantic getaway.

We have created a list of the best vineyards and wineries in the Greek capital. Attica’s vineyards are centered around the regions of Spata, Markopoulo, and Koropi, which are areas surrounding the Athens International Airport, Eleftherios Venizelos. In this area, an ancient temple belonging to the goddess of Artemis, the haunt of Dionysus, God of wine and ecstasy, marks the importance of the grounds and soil from ancient times. For centuries the ancient method of wine production has been well maintained in the area since the ancient Greeks and Athenians would cultivate vines and produce their much-loved wine on these grounds.

Take the Athinon-Souniou Highway and search for a private beach or shore to enjoy a sunny day

The Athenian Riviera consists of hundreds of beaches scattered along the Athinon-Souniou long coastal road. These are organized or unorganized bays, sandy or rocky, very crowded or very deserted. The deserted ones are tricky to find if you are new in the area, but if you have a good eye and observation skills you will see that they are not as hidden.

For this romantic getaway, we recommend renting a car for the day. Along the Saronic Gulf, there are also very small islands that are easily accessible by foot, as the waters are either very shallow or there are rocks from which you can jump from one to another. Any beach or shore in the Athenian Riviera is unique and paradisiac, with the crystal sea water and the rich green nature dominating the scene.
