Aressana Spa Hotel & Suites: A Chic Escape in Fira, Santorini
Santorini, one of the world’s most renowned romantic destinations, with its postcard-worthy views, spectacular sunsets and luxurious romantic hotels, — is as dreamy as it looks.
Whether you are honeymooning or simply treating your significant other to a holiday of a lifetime, choosing the right hotel can be overwhelming. Santorini is one of those places which offers endless opportunities, however location is key. Aressana Spa Hotel & Suites is where location meets Cycladic elegance. Situated in the heart of the vibrant Fira, this chic hotel offers timeless elegance and tranquility.
Overview: Aressana Spa Hotel & Suites
As a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World, nothing here is left to chance. From the beautiful modern design, to the spacious and bright interiors, attention to detail and state-of-the-art facilities.
At the Aressana Spa Hotel & Suites every detail is complimented with a stylish touch, from its homey, yet contemporary accommodation with a refreshing palette of neutral and vibrant colours, to the dark wood accents, free flowing white curtains and a glittering pool shaded by the blooming bougainvillaea, where bronzed guests sip signature cocktails and work on perfecting their Greek island tan.
The hotel’s small but stellar Tefsion Kallos Spa is a wonderful escape, to rejuvenate your body and mind. The lounge area with an inviting hot tub and a series of thermal relaxing beds as well as a steam room — is an absolute haven.
The spa treatment menu offers a well rounded selection of massages, body wraps, facials and intensive detox programs. Here you will also find a fitness centre, to keep you in shape during your holidays in Santorini.
My Stay at Aressana Spa Hotel & Suites
During my three nights stay in Santorini, I enjoyed the warm hospitality of this family-owned luxury hotel. I stayed in a Double Room with a balcony overlooking the main square right at the hotel’s entrance.
Most of these rooms are located on the upper level, some overlooking the pool. Aressana Spa Hotel & Suites features a selection of accommodation options ranging from Classic rooms to Junior Suites with a sharing pool and a Sea View Suite with Jacuzzi.
The room’s interior complimented with off-white touches and hints of grey is equipped with coffee and tea making facilities, complimentary soft drinks mineral water and home-made preserved figs (welcome gift upon arrival) and the bathroom features either a walk-in shower or bathtub. Bathroom amenities include Greek Apivita products.
Dining and Wining
Start your morning in Santorini with a delightful rich breakfast buffet served in the Tiffany’s inspired dining room, located next to the outdoor pool.
Enjoy the freshly prepared Santorinian delicacies which consist of homemade pies, an array of hot and cold dishes and healthy bites.
At Ifestioni Restaurant guests can embark on a sensational culinary journey of immaculate dishes prepared using freshly sourced local ingredients, inspired by the authentic local recipes. The restaurant has two sitting areas, the outdoor Lounge Terrace offers endless East Coast views of Santorini.
For those who wish to take their dining experience once step-ahead, can opt for an olive oil tasting which will allow you to savor some of Greece’s finest olive oils paired with delicious dishes prepared by Aressana’s talented culinary team.
One of my favourites is the award winning Governor Olive oil from the Ionian Island of Corfu. Although oil olive consumption is very much part of our daily culinary routine, this was my first time following an olive oil tasting which I highly recommend.
The beautifully appointed lobby bar with its relaxing atmosphere is dominated by the dimmed lighting and soothing chilled-out sounds. Here you can enjoy a well curated cocktail menu, before or after dinner.
Location
The location must not be overlooked, situated just off the corner from main Mitropoleos Street, at a close proximity to the Orthodox Metropolitan Cathedral of Fira — Aressana Spa Hotel & Suites can be easily reached with a vehicle and doesn’t include the endless Santorini steps, in fact the location steers clear of the Santorini’s increasing crowds.
Thera (Fira), the capital of Santorini has equally astonishing sunsets compared to those of Oia and a more relaxed vibe. The caldera is lined with open air bars and restaurants where you can enjoying the spectacular Aegean Sea views.
Other places of interest include the Museum of Prehistoric Thira, the Archaeological Museum of Thira, and Megaro Gyzi Museum. From Fira you can also take the famous cable car which goes down to the Old Port of Fira, where daily boats commence their trips to Thirassia and the Hot Springs of Santorini.
