Where to Stay on Mykonos

Over the years covering Greece and Europe as a travel writer (including many hotel reviews), I’ve seen Mykonos continue to boom as a top Greek island destination. One thing is for sure, along with Santorini, there are an incredible amount of options when it comes to choosing a hotel on Mykonos island. That makes the question of where to stay on Mykonos even tougher!

I’ve stayed at the following places which are four- and five-star options, a B&B and a villa. From first hand experience, I can say wholeheartedly recommend these stays. I’m only listing places I have experienced and truly liked.

Note that the best hotels on Mykonos often fill up months in advance, sometimes a year in advance, so it is best to plan early. I’ve included links after each hotel to help you out.

So, here’s my list of where to stay on Mykonos, one of Greece’s most beautiful and cosmopolitan island destinations.

I won’t put anything on this page that I haven’t verified and/or personally experienced. If you book from these links, I receive a small commission which helps to run this website — but at absolutely no extra cost to you.

Where to Stay on Mykonos: By the Beach

Grecotel Mykonos Blu

With this stunning view above Psarrou Beach, you won’t want to leave. I didn’t!

Where to stay on Mykonos

As a luxury, five-star Greek island beach resort, the Grecotel Mykonos Blu had a full package of the things I look out for: smiling, helpful and friendly staff, excellent service and overall aesthetic.

The design is simply stunning and the pool and lounge spaces are inviting.  For a relaxing getaway on a special Greek island beach destination, this is your answer. Also ideal for families.

Double rooms from €189 low season; and from €700 high season. Breakfast and Wi-Fi included. I recommend booking in advance.

Myconian Collection: Myconian Ambassador

The Myconian Ambassador Relais & Chateaux is located in the posh beach resort town of Platis Gialos.

I have so many good things to say about this hotel. It’s a perfect location if you want to be within walking distance to the beach and have a great resort suite to come home to. I highly recommend one of the plunge pool suites which also have incredible views.

Double rooms from €195 in low season; and from €555 in high. Breakfast included. Free Wi-Fi. Check availability at Grecotel Mykonos Blu here.

Grace Mykonos

This is a boutique luxury stay in Agios Stefanos. So, if you are looking for a boutique hotel that is in tune with local culture and has a view of the Mediterranean, you will definitely want to consider Grace Mykonos.

It is a short drive from main town of Mykonos and walking distance to Agios Stefanos beach.  Since it is a short drive from the main town that equates to quiet.

I think it lives up to its reputation of providing great service in a special environment.  The rooftop pool was very relaxing and it has an excellent gourmet restaurant.

You can check your dates and book a room at the Grace Mykonos here.

Mykonos Princess

This whitewashed contemporary styled boutique option is also by Agios Stefanos beach.  What I remembered most is the whole vibe: very hip and lively. The pool has a view of the Aegean Sea and the staff was really attentive.  The restaurant was great too.

My niggle was the noise in my standard room, which was by the pool area — near all that liveliness. So, if you book, don’t book by the pool or restaurant then I’m sure it will be quiet. Unless, you don’t mind the noise.

Double rooms from €110 in low season; and from €440 in high. Breakfast included. Free Wi-Fi.

Pietra e Mare

This lovely boutique beach option is stacked on a quiet, scenic hillside by Kalo Livadi beach. It’s an adults-only place, so no kids to break the silence.  I found the staff to be quite hospitable. There’s a great pool and the rooms have scenic balconies, although non-private. The hotel also has a nice little restaurant with a panoramic view at the top of the property.  A chic yet laid back atmosphere.

Tip: I enjoyed the Honeymoon Suite complete with an outdoor Jacuzzi.

Double rooms from €110 in low season; and from €440 in high. Buffet breakfast included. Free Wi-Fi.

Santa Marina

Overlooking Ornos Bay, Santa Marina is by far the best luxury stay experience.  This is the hotel where stars like Leonardo di Caprio and Ariana Grande book. Yeah, there’s a helicopter pad, a private dock and a private beach. It is home to one of the top tables on the island: Buddha Bar Beach. The spa is incredible — try the hamam. The pools are infinity and divine.

The people are nice, too!  You can’t go wrong. If you have the budget and love the idea of living in the lap of Mykonos resort luxury, definitely consider it.

Double rooms from €480 low season; and from €860 in high.  Breakfast included. Free Wi-Fi

Tip: I stayed in a suite with a private indoor Jacuzzi and a scenic balcony. Divine.

You can check your dates and book at the Santa Marina here.

Where to Stay on Mykonos: Near Mykonos Town

Bill and Coo

Located in Megali Ammos, Bill and Coo’s definition of luxury is ideal for couples seeking a calm private getaway.  The infinity pool is one of the best on the island.

A bit more hidden than other hotels outside of Mykonos town, the hotel has a chill vibe that combines easily with bespoke services. I liked the small size of the hotel too. The gourmet restaurant is one of the best on the Greek islands.

Double rooms start at €160 in low season and €600 in high. Breakfast and Wi-Fi included. Rooms book fast so I recommend planning early.

Check availability for Bill and Coo.

Tharroe of Mykonos

I enjoyed staying at this family-run boutique hotel.  The family that owns it takes part in its day-to-day operations and I could tell they love Mykonos.

The hotel is located just outside of Mykonos Town which is about a 15-minute walk. Many rooms boast an unobstructed view of the Mykonian coast.

I’d say this hotel has “soul,” offering excellent personalized service and a relaxing atmosphere.  The food is hearty and the service warm. Great outdoor pool too.

I had a hot tub suite and I can highly recommend it!

Double rooms from €160 in low season; and from €600 in high. Breakfast included. Free Wi-Fi.

Myconian Collection: Myconian Kyma

Tucked between other Myconian Collection hotel chain properties, the Myconian Kyma is right on the outskirts of Mykonos Town. It will take you 15 minutes to walk to town. I think it is a pretty relaxed setting with the lovely Mykonian sea views. Many rooms feature plunge pool suites.

There’s a large outdoor pool and a cold seawater pool. There’s even a Cycladic style whitewashed chapel on the property. The restaurant serves and excellent breakfast and has a great dinner menu too.

Double rooms from €230 in low season; and from €530 in high. Breakfast included. Free Wi-Fi.

Myconian Collection: Myconian Korali

This is the sister hotel to the Myconian Kyma, named above. This five-star addition to the Myconian Collection is a member of Relais & Châteaux.  It boasts a lot — namely sea views, private pools, a relaxing spa, eclectic cocktails and fine dining.

I loved the smart and colorful outfits the staff wore. It is really a beautifully designed hotel. Retro chic with a mix of Cycladic island whitewash.  Great service too.

Tip: Stay in a suite with a private plunge pool. Amazing.

Double rooms from €190 in low season; and from €450 in high. Breakfast and Wi-Fi included.

You can reserve your stay at the Myconian Korali here.

Livin Mykonos

This new boutique hotel is right on the outskirts of Mykonos Town in an area called Drafaki. I noticed the beautiful minimalist design at first. Lots of neutrals and an overall simple elegance.

I found the service to be quite friendly too.  However, what was a nice surprise was the uniquely ambient pool area which boasted a fantastic sunset view. There were two beautiful canopied sunbeds that added to the ambiance. This hotel is a member of the Tresor hotels group.

Another good thing to note is the restaurant. It offers really nice Mediterranean dishes at excellent prices.  Mykonos Town is a 15-minute walk downhill.

Double rooms from €200 in low season; and from €340 in high. Breakfast included. Free Wi-Fi.

Check your dates and book your stay at Livin Mykonos.

Villa Konstantin

Styled in the traditional whitewashed Mykonian architecture with cozy lounging areas around a lovely pool, these B&B-style apartments and studios offer a quiet atmosphere away from the bustle of Mykonos town.

About 700 meters away from town, you would be still close enough to get to it easily.  Since the property is located high up on the northern hillside above Mykonos Town you get lovely views of the Aegean Sea and sunsets.  Recommended for families. Sharon runs the place. She’s a British expat and very lovely indeed!

Standard rooms start at €70 in low season and up to €370 in high.

Villa Hurmuses

If you are looking for an amazing Mykonian villa I highly recommend Villa Hurmuses in Megali Ammos.  It has been honored as one of the best villas on the island by Conde Nast Traveller and it has won industry awards for its amenities including the “Best Villa Pool.” It was even featured on the Today Show.

That sums up some of the best stays I have experienced on this island.  I hope it helps answer your question of where to stay on Mykonos!
