I’ve grown a soft spot for the whitewashed landscapes that contrast so beautifully against the blues of the Aegean Sea. Mykonos and Santorini are the most popular. Kea is the closest, just an hour from the port of Lavrio. Sifnos, Syros, Milos, Serifos and Kythnos are more off-the-beaten path. Ferry rides vary from one hour to eight hours, depending on the isle you choose. Flights are available for many islands in peak summer season.
