Horse Riding in Athens: Kouvaras Equestrian Club

Love the thought of horse riding in Athens? Plan for a family day trip at the Kouvaras Equestrian Club.

Family Day at Kouvaras Equestrian Club

I have never been to horse riding facilities in Athens. I found out quickly that the Kouvaras Equestrian Club is more than that, it is the ultimate family day place.

I was invited as a member of Travel Bloggers Greece for a “family day” get together. So, I took the family including Stef and seven-year-old Katia.

As soon as we walked into the club, which is about a 45-minute drive from Athens, the fun began for Katia.  She went off with the other blogger children, and there were so many options for them to choose from.

Two bouncy castles were parked in one corner of the lawn. There was also a trampoline, a playground, a carousel and a children’s craft corner. While the little people were off getting dirty and expending all sorts of energy, we sat together and had a coffee in the spring sun. Good deal!

Next, we took Katia for a ride on a horse.  Each child had a turn, led by a staff member of the club. Helmets were provided by the club too. Katia loved it, of course!

The guided horse rides for children cost €6.  In case you’re interested, horse riding lessons are available for children starting at seven years old. Packages starting at €15 for a half hour lesson or €120 Euro for 10 lessons.  There are also packages for riding lessons for all ages and levels. Kouvaras also hosts show-jumping and other types of competitions.

But the animal fun wasn’t over yet. There was a petting zoo to check out.

Behind the stables, we checked out a world of the cutest furry animals. There were a bunch of open animal pens with funny little goats, donkeys, ponies, ducks, chickens, alpacas and even wallabies.

After all the animal fun, we were hungry.  We sat down for a meal at the on-site restaurant. The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor dining spaces featuring a full menu of Greek and international dishes.

Conclusion: Horse Riding in Athens

I was impressed with the open space here. It’s more than just horse riding in Athens! Kids are free to roam safely and have fun with other kids. The animal farm was a nice surprise, too. The big lawn is situated in a way so it is easy for parents to watch their children while enjoying the Mediterranean weather.

I think it’s an ideal place to host children parties and other events such as baptisms and weddings. Indoor events can hold up to 250 people and the outdoor events can host 1,000 people.

If you’re looking for something different to do like horse riding in Athens, the Kouvaras Equestrian Club is the place to head to for the day.  The club has everything you and your child could want for a jam-packed family day complete with beautiful horses, cute animals and good food.

How to Get to Kouvaras Equestrian Club
