Athens cafes with a view are just the place to be when the winter sun is out.  Here’s my list of some of the top cafes around the city from the center to the seaside.

Rooftop Coffee: Athens Cafes With a View

Recently, temperatures  climbed up to 17 C/ 62 F during the day.  The city’s rooftop cafe bars are a good option to soak in the brightness of the day with good company and your favorite coffee. Then, there are some really nice cafes with seaside views that are just perfect to enjoy the mild temps.

Also keep in mind that in Greece, cafes are often called cafe bars meaning its a cafe by day and morphs into a bar atmosphere at night.

A for Athens

This cafe/bar is located on the top floor of the A for Athens hotel located right in the heart of Monastiraki Square.   The venue has expanded and it now have more tables and a separate elevator just for cafe goers.

360 Cocktail Bar

Located right around the corner from A for Athens.  The name suits the 360 degree view it offers. Like A for Athens it is often crowded on beautiful sunny days.

City Zen

You can then try City Zen. It’s another rooftop cafe bar in Monastiraki.  The entrance is right next to Starbucks.

Athens Hilton Galaxy Bar

The top of the Athens Hilton offers a great view of the Acropolis and the city.  The drinks are some of the priciest in town.

Grande Bretagne Rooftop Bar

Located on the top terrace of the finest luxury hotel in town, the views are always splendid.

Culture, Coffee and Views

Gazarte Bar

This bar is not exactly in the center of the city but in Athens proper.  On the taratsa you get a nice view of the Gazi district, a popular nightlife hub, and out to the Acropolis.  It’s a beautiful space dedicated to music and art.  Other rooftop bars in Gazi offer similar views. Check out the concert schedule while you’re there.

Athens Riviera Beach Views

Balux

Balux is a big, cozy, comfy cafe located in the Asteras complex, right by the beach in Glyfada which is one of Athens’ main beach towns. It’s still part of the city proper.  Balux  is a local favorite place for a coffee.  There are great seats out by the beach. Indoors, I ove the library feel in one of the rooms.

Skippers Yacht ‘n Roll Bar

Here’s another local favorite located in Alimos Marina.  Relax with your coffee and a view of the marina.

Due Cavalieri

Typical modern Athenian cafe that gets a lot of traffic.  The big plus is the view of this lovely, organized marina on the Riviera.

Athens Cafes with a View: City or Sea

Some prefer an Acropolis view while other would love a sea view. Athens has them both!  When the sun is out, even during the winter months, these aforementioned cafes are sure to be filled with Athenians nursing their coffees with good company — for at least a few hours.  Life in Greece…
